Newsletter forms collect your email address and subscription choice. Submission forms collect your contact details and the information you choose to share about a place, event, or home.
How we use your details.
Mitch uses submissions to review local content and follow up about the information provided. Approved story or listing details are published on the website. Submission email addresses stay private.
Newsletter signup requests weekly local emails from Middle Georgia Local. Signing up does not authorize sharing your details with agents or adding you to mortgage marketing.
Services supporting the site.
The site uses hosting, content management, and storage providers to deliver pages and save submissions. Google Fonts supplies website fonts. Technical request information helps operate the site and limit spam. Published content is stored separately from private submissions and subscriptions.
If you subscribe through our Mailchimp form, Mailchimp processes your email address and subscription preferences for the dedicated Middle Georgia Local weekly updates audience. Email campaigns include Mailchimp’s unsubscribe link.
Optional usage measurement.
Optional Google Analytics measurement is off until you allow it using the settings in the footer. If you allow it, page visits and clicks on business menus, websites, directions, phone links, and mortgage resources help Mitch understand which parts of the guide are useful. Clicks indicate interest, not confirmed visits, customers, or mortgage applications.
This measurement uses the Google Analytics property also used for That VA Guy. The site identifies local-guide activity separately. Analytics may use cookies or similar technology; advertising personalization and Google Signals are disabled. Our custom events do not include form contents, email addresses, phone numbers, financial inputs, or full link queries. Your browser’s Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control setting keeps optional measurement off.
Your measurement choice is saved in this browser. You can turn it off in the footer at any time. When the choice saves successfully, turning it off reloads the page to stop the optional analytics script. If your browser cannot save the choice, measurement is disabled on the current page and the settings explain that the choice applies to this page only. Turning measurement off does not erase previously recorded statistics. Open the measurement settings below.
Links between this guide and That VA Guy use source labels identifying the site and link position. They do not include your name or contact details. Following a link does not sign you up for either newsletter or mortgage marketing.
Ask Local questions.
If you use Ask Local, your question, up to three earlier questions in the current conversation, and relevant published listings are sent through Vercel AI Gateway to OpenAI to choose suggestions. Do not include private, financial, medical, or other sensitive information. Ask Local cannot make reservations, check live availability, or access private submissions.
The site does not save your conversation in its database or send chat text to Google Analytics. Conversation text stays in this page’s memory until you start over, reload, or leave. AI and hosting providers may process or retain technical and request data under their own policies. Shared request counters limit abuse and cost; they contain counts, expiration times, and hashed network identifiers, not question text. Using chat does not subscribe you to email or mortgage marketing.
Your choices.
Use the unsubscribe link in a local email to stop those emails. Contact mitch@thatvaguy.com to request access, a correction, or deletion of your submitted contact information.
Outside links.
Restaurant, event, agent, and mortgage links lead to separate websites with their own privacy practices. The listing agent handles property requests made on the agent’s website. Mortgage requests made through That VA Guy go to Mitch’s mortgage business.
